Ottawa notes
Seasonal and local notes
Frozen ground makes exterior break-out slower and riskier for the surrounding lawn, and Ottawa’s asphalt plants shut for the winter, so most paving contractors are not ready for a removed driveway until spring. We book exterior concrete and asphalt from April and are taking spring dates now.
Ontario One Call locates are free and take about five business days. We request them before any job that touches the ground.
Clean concrete and asphalt cost less to dispose of than mixed waste, so keeping them separate matters. Mixed loads cost you more.
How it works
Site visit in. Debris out.
Most of the risk in demolition is in the planning: missed disconnects, surprise asbestos, a bin with nowhere to go. We sort that out before anyone swings a bar.

- 04
Down and hauled
Protection goes down, the work gets done, debris goes to licensed sorting and recycling, and the site is left ready for the next trade.
Asbestos & permits
We don’t touch asbestos. That’s the point.
Some demolition companies will tell you they do it all. We do the demolition, and we make sure the steps before it happen in the right order, by the right people: survey first, licensed abatement, then us.
Read the asbestos and permit FAQ- Built before 1990? Ontario law puts the onus on the owner to identify designated substances before a contract is signed. That means a designated-substances survey.
- Survey finds asbestos? A licensed abatement contractor removes it, and you get a clearance letter.
- Utilities and permit. Gas, hydro, water and sewer disconnected where needed. Enbridge alone takes about 44 days, so it gets requested first.
- Then we demolish. No change orders for surprise asbestos, no stop-work orders, no crew exposed.
FAQ
Concrete & Asphalt Removal: common questions
Can you remove concrete in winter?
Interior work like basement slab sections can go ahead any time. Exterior slabs, steps and driveways are best done from April to November. We are booking spring work now.
How do you price concrete removal?
By area, thickness, whether it has rebar or mesh, and access for loading. We measure all of that at the site visit and send a written quote.
Do you recycle the concrete?
Yes. Clean concrete, brick and asphalt go to clean-fill and aggregate recycling. Rebar goes to scrap metal recycling.
Will you damage my lawn?
We plan the loading path before we start and use ground protection where the site needs it. Soft, wet spring ground is the main risk, and we schedule around it.
